LG apps and services useful to me.
The LG oled TV has apps available for use with the TV. For those who are uninformed, when you buysome blu-ray disks, there is what is called a 'digital key' included on a piece of paper.
This key will allow you to access copies of the videos online from particiating services.
I purchased Game of Thrones 1080p and Independence Day 4K/UHD which have keys included.
I added the GoT keys to my Apple iTunes account. This allows me to download 720p versions to my laptop. I opened accounts at Vudu and MoviesAnytime and linked my Apple account. I added the Independence Day 4K/UHD to the latter accounts and can now watch the videos on the LG 55" oled TV.
Be careful, though. I purchased a 4K blueray on one of the auction websites and got ripped off. The ad included a digital key. When I got the item, I noticed the image on the website did not match the box I received. There was a digital key, but the key would not work. The services mentioned were no help. I think they knew what I later discovered, but would not reveal. Namely, there are digital codes for different countries. Like DVDs, a code may only work in a specific list of countries. There was no mention on the box of a limitation. The paper with the key seemed to belong to a different package. I'm sure, now, the key was pulled from one box and inserted into the one I received.
I located and downloaded a 4K/UHD copy of the video to one of my hard drives. From my point of view, I have a legal right to a digital copy, and therefore am entitled to keep a copy on hand.
I may try to trade the digital key I cannot use, on eBay. The key works in Great Britain, I think. I may post on the GB eBay site. If I can trade, I'll upload the key to one of the services.
Contrary to what some think, HDTV does improve the appearance of 1080p and 720p movies. As a matter of fact, for those contemplating the purchase of a HDTV, there are viewing distance charts online to help in determining the best distance from which to view the TV screen. In my case, 55", 7'-9' is suggested for 4K/UHD. I rearranged my furniture to accommodate the specification.
Viewing distance. For a good look, use Google search engine with "hdtv viewing distance" in the text box. Then click on the 'images' title at the top of the page to see the images that were found.
I include a couple of charts from one website:
LG makes an app for connecting other devices to the TV over WiFi. The name of the app is SreenShare.
I use the Microsoft Windows version.
